I’m a joint winner of the inaugural Theatre503 Playwriting award, 2016 Finalist for the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, Total Theatre Award nominee and winner of the JB Priestley Award from the Royal Literary Fund. In 2016 I was a Leverhulme Scholar on attachment to the Egg Theatre, Bath. I’m currently on attachment to the National Theatre Studio and under commission to the Bristol Old Vic theatre as well as joining newly founded company, The Coterie, supported by the Old Vic theatre, Sky Arts and the RSC.
In addition to plays, I’ve also written and performed sketches, stand up, storytelling pieces and written the dialogue for an educational game about the European Parliament…oh and I did a show about Cher. I bloody love Cher.
“Roberts is an intensely funny writer…a writer to watch”
★★★★ The Telegraph
“What at first seems to be a rather small, modest play turns out to be not only a tender, finely observed portrait of male friendship, but also a stirring requiem for the vanishing dignity of rural England.”
★★★★ The Evening Standard
Praise for ‘Infinity Pool: A Modern Retelling of Madame Bovary’
“Utterly unique and exceptional in every way, it’s a heart-breaking story of a stunted life, told with theatrical verve and palpable compassion.”
★★★★★ – The Stage
“Roberts has taken a huge risk indeconstructing both a woman’s body and a play in this way. It pays off utterly…making Infinity Pool not only funny and moving, but genuinely quite remarkable”
