Creative writing and storytelling workshops for ages 5 to grown up.

I’ve devised and delivered over 700 hours of workshops for primary school children to improve literacy, confidence and story telling skills including the hugely successful ‘Writing for Computer Games’ course.

Before I was a full time writer, my day job was to deliver workshops in schools, museums, libraries, theatres and village halls across the country.

I’ve led scavenger hunts through libraries, delivered astronomy workshops in the Albert Hall and comedy workshops in a cemetery – these days I tend to just do theatre though.

I have delivered workshops for Theatre Royal Plymouth, Graeae, the Regional Theatre Young Directors’ scheme, Tobacco Factory Theatres, the Egg Theatre, the North Wall Arts Centre’s Theatre Craft programme, Shakespeare Schools Festival and the South Gloucestershire Library Service, amongst others.

Whatever the age or experience of the participants, I pride myself on creating workshops that are flexible, accessible and responsive to encourage imagination, playfulness and confidence.

“What a great job Bea did for us today…she came up with a perfect set of activities which the children both enjoyed and hugely benefitted from. They are full of lovely ideas now which can be woven into some exciting stories over the next few days. We thought that Bea worked really well with our children and had a wealth of ideas and experience to share with them.”

“I have booked various drama groups in the past and have found that they sometimes find it really difficult to pitch their sessions appropriately for this age group (KS1) I found Bea did this brilliantly – it was pitched perfectly for their age….I also thought Bea interacted really well with the children and responded to their needs and abilities well – she seemed to really enjoy herself which helped to ensure the children also enjoyed themselves. So, thank you very much for a great session. I will use you again!”
